When the Red Skull wields a strange new power that strips heroes of their powers and threatens the entire world, the Avengers turn to Tony Stark’s experimental new technology to save us all. Here come the Iron Avengers — Avengers Tech-On! Sleek high-tech power suits bristling with energy and amped-up attack power face off against super villains enhanced to match. It’s mechs and mayhem in the Marvel Mighty Manner! Avengers Tech-On is a sentai-inspired action-adventure series produced in partnership with Bandai Namco of Japan, written by Jim Zub (Uncanny Avengers, Champions) and illustrated by Jeff Chamba Cruz (Venom: The End, Street Fighter)!”
You want Avengers but Power Rangers style??? Marvel‘s got you covered! Tech-on is just what the doctor ordered as Jim Zub (loved this guy since Wayward) takes on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and I’m going to be honest: he nails it. As a long time reader that loves easily accessible mini-series this opener fits the bill. We have Red Skull now uber powered (think Lord Zedd) by Infinity dust vs de-powered Knights.
The good guys are scrambling to do what they can to save the world so thankfully Jeffrey “Chamba” Cruz is here to give the struggle a visual language. What works is style and that’s what each page drips with. Pencil strokes that evoke Eastern influences with just enough Western iconography to keep the focus on the likes of Captain America, Spider-Man, Iron Man, Captain Marvel, Black Panther and all the rest.
Over the top thrills is exactly what you need to spice up your pull list! Haven’t read a Marvel book in awhile? This might be the mini that gets you back into the House of Ideas. Avengers: Tech-on #1 is downright fun and following in the steps of its Mech inspired predecessor it hits the right notes to earn a spot in your buy pile.
