Chariot #5 Review

The Chariot was a Cold War-era secret government project to provide its star agent with a weapon unlike any other in the form of a super-charged muscle car. It sank into the ocean decades ago, and the agent along with it. Now, a petty criminal looking to reform his life has stumbled upon the Chariot, and he’s about to find out that the agent’s consciousness is still controlling it in this synthwave thriller. In this concluding issue, Gillian battles her technologically super-charged sister both in reality and cyberspace.”

Bryan Edward Hill pens the script and the focus is where it needs to be. Sister v. Sister. As Gillian and Delia come head to head with digital immortality plus our primary’s kidnapped kid at the center. Ready for some high octane action? Good! Because that’s what the Chariot has in store for all of us in this finale.

We get a little bit more backstory for our two sisters but it doesn’t take long for the gears to shift. Jim takes on the big bad with lots at stake and man oh man the art by Priscilla Petraites is so so so friggin’ good! The characters are rendered beautifully, the backgrounds are on point and the fight has a kinetic feel!

There’s a lot to love in this issue! The story is strong and the open ended conclusion will leave fans eager as Chariot #5 ends its arc where it needs to be. Seriously when you take a chance on a new title you hope it’s as much fun as this was. If you didn’t nab the rest of the issues don’t worry, just go get that upcoming trade!
